Ringed pin from a pagan Norse grave at Buckquoy, Orkney
A grave was inserted into the settlement mound at Buckquoy sometime in the tenth century, after the last structure had gone out of use. The grave contained a man who was buried with his personal possessions. It has been estimated he was in his 40s when he died. One of his grave goods included this Hiberno-Norse type ringed pin. It is decorated on the shank, head and ring.
